About me

Thank you for visiting my page.

Often for many reasons, life can become unmanageable and you may feel you are unable to cope. It can be difficult to know where to turn, and sometimes most difficult to talk to people we are closest to, we may feel we need to go somewhere outside our family and friends, to talk/work through our thoughts, feelings and worries with someone impartial.

There may be a number of reasons why you may want to talk, perhaps a distressing event, loss or bereavement or address a longer standing issue. Sometimes the problem isn’t so clear and you may be feeling anxious, unfulfilled or depressed.

I offer a safe confidential space for you to explore these thoughts, feelings and make sense of your emotions, to gain a greater understanding of yourself, I believe you are the expert on you, with you being at the centre of this process. I will support you to find a way through difficult and sensitive areas, with empathy and care.

Throughout my training and since qualifying I have specialised in loss and bereavement, I appreciate how it can affect every part of our lives at some point.

Loss is something we will all experience in life – this can be the death of someone we love, someone we did not know we loved, confusing feelings around the death of a person close or a distant relationship.

There are also living losses - being loss of job, health - mental and physical, confidence, marriage, relationship, home, friendship, pet, faith, an ideal - the list goes on.

Sometimes the anticipation of loss can become all-consuming and how we articulate these confusing, chaotic feelings to those closest can be difficult.

Whilst very often we are able to work through these feelings, sometimes we need some help in how to support ourselves. Not being able to show our true feelings/thoughts/emotions can have an impact on how we sleep, function daily - interact with our family, friends and within the workplace.

I have experience of many of life's pressures and challenges and have a deep understanding of many of the traumas which we experience in our lives.

As part of my training, I have had my own personal therapy, so understand how hard it is to take the first step into having counselling. I appreciate it takes a great deal of courage to reach out and ask for support, and I would like to reassure you, you are not alone.

I have a lovely space where we can meet in person in Henley in Arden.

I do also offer a Walk and Talk service in Warwick, which can help to reconnect with nature whilst taking gentle exercise at your own pace. This type of therapy has grown increasingly popular and suits any age or level of fitness.

You may not feel ready to sit face to face with a counsellor, so this could be an option to explore, in a lovely setting within Warwick.

Please do not hesitate to contact me for further details or questions you may have.

How can you contact me?

My aim is to make the process of starting counselling as simple as possible.

I offer a free 30 minute chat on Zoom or telephone to find out if I am someone you would like to work with and to answer any initial questions.

If you feel you would like to explore further we can then arrange an assessment for you to talk through your needs and goals for counselling.

After this assessment, there is no obligation to continue with counselling.

If this feels too much at this stage - just to gain a little more information or any questions you may have drop me an email and I will aim to get back to you in 48 hours (within business hours).

Please take your time to gain a sense of who you would like to work with, contact a few counsellors to explore your needs and ultimately who you feel will support you.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
