About me

I have worked therapeutically with children and young people for ten years. I am also a co-founder of Enfys Therapeutic Services in Ruthin, Denbighshire. Here, we have specially equipped rooms to provide a calm and welcoming environment for all ages. Therapy can give your child/ teenager the opportunity to make sense of their thoughts, feelings and experiences. It helps them better understand their struggles and find solutions to difficult situations.

I integrate creativity and play into my sessions as it can be used as a method of expression and communication. My role is to observe and interact with your child/ teenager, using reflective questioning and mirroring their actions. This gives them the chance to process their experiences, past and current, conscious and unconscious within a safe environment and without judgement. By using different resources, it also gives me the opportunity to highlight any strengths I have observed, building on their self-esteem and confidence.

Counselling can help children and young people in many different areas of their life, including:

  • Confidence
  • Low self-esteem
  • Anxiety
  • Trauma
  • Bereavement and loss (including parental separation)
  • Anger and behavioural issues
  • Identity
  • Relationship difficulties with parents, family and friends

I am available for evening and weekend sessions. If you would like to have a chat and see how I can help your child/ teenager, you can send me an email and we can arrange the best time for me to give you a call.

Alternatively, you can find me at www.enfystherapeuticservices.co.uk

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People, along with a BSc (Hons) Addictive Behaviours in substance misuse. I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), adhering to their Ethical Framework for good practice.

I am qualified in Person Centred counselling using therapeutic play, and integrate CBT and Solution Focused techniques in my practice.

I have previously worked for the charity, ‘Action for Children’. Here, I worked with complex cases, which at times included providing support for parents, to help aid the therapeutic process for their child/ young person. I also have experience of working for the school counselling service and have an excellent understanding of the difficulties young people face within this environment.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
