About me

Life can be difficult; the pressures of everyday living can be overwhelming and exhausting. Anxiety, depression, major life events, loss or bereavement can all shake our sense of self. The expectation to be perfect, do everything and achieve it all now impossible to manage. This can lead us to question who we are and where we fit within this world. Sometimes it can be hard to understand, accept or even like ourselves.

I can help you to explore your sense of self and tackle issues with low self-confidence, low self-esteem and identity.

Together we can work with any negative self-talk and begin your journey towards being kinder to yourself and being able to embrace who you are.

I believe uniqueness is to be celebrated, you are not broken and in need of fixing. It’s ok to be all the different parts that make you whole.

If any of these issues are affecting you please get in contact to see if we can work together to help you towards a more positive you.

I offer weekly sessions of 50 minutes either in person or online via Zoom.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have completed a Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling (all BACP accredited).

I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and am committed to complying with their Ethical Framework for Good Practice.

Before working as an individual counsellor, I was on the counselling team for a charity called The Outhouse who help provide opportunities for LGBTQ+ people in Essex.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I work in an integrative person-centred way. This means I combine different methods in our sessions, including but not limited to cognitive behavioural techniques (CBT), transactional analysis (TA) and psychodynamic techniques. This helps me tailor your sessions to best support and work with you. The session is as unique as you, and together we have the freedom to work in a way that fits your needs to help you have the best possible experience.

Therapy can be enormously helpful knowing there is someone there for you every week who will offer a warm, empathic, safe, non-judgemental space where you can focus on you, be yourself knowing everything you say is treated with respect and is both secure and confidential. Each session will be led by you as you are the expert in your own life, and collaboratively we will work together during the sessions for a positive outcome.
