About me

If you are feeling particularly stressed and anxious at the moment or considering seeking support for things that have been difficult for a long time. Taking the first step on the road to making some changes and getting support can be daunting.

Finding a therapist who is the right fit for you is the start of your journey. We can arrange an initial consultation during which I will help you think about what you need and whether this is the right step for you. When we meet I will ask you about what has brought you to this point and speak with you about what your therapy will look like.

"What to expect in your first session" The first session is an important opportunity to build rapport and see whether you feel that I am the right person to work with you. We will think about how you work best and what we can do together to create a bespoke approach to therapy that best suits your needs.

"How Therapy can help"   Working with a therapist creates a relationship significantly different from those you might have had outside the therapy room. The work we do will allow you to explore your issues, emotions, thoughts, and experiences in a confidential and dependable environment. Imagine being able to see your friends, develop effective coping strategies to improve your mood, reduce worry, attend events, improve your sleep, get rid of those negative and self-critical thoughts playing on your mind and enhance your physical and mental well-being. That is what therapy with me can offer you.

I offer a private, confidential space where we can think about these things and the impact they are having on your life. My approach is compassionate and warm with a focus on empowerment

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
