About me

I am a warm and empathic person, offering a safe and comfortable space for you to be attended to in depth and with compassion.  I am situated in the centre of Winchester.

I work with all Adults (18+)

In my approach I am guided by Humanistic values and a deep respect for the power of the individual to grow and develop when provided with a secure therapeutic relationship. I believe that it is possible for you to deepen your understanding of yourself through exploration of feelings and experiences, always going at the right pace for you.

I can offer both short (six sessions) and longer term, open ended counselling.

I have trained in Transactional Analysis and draw upon many of the concepts and theories from this approach, and also use Integrative, Humanistic, Person Centred and Mindfulness in my work.  I qualified in 2017 and have been working in a voluntary capacity at The Olive Branch, Winchester for the last three years alongside my private practice.  I have also completed a training with Jan Day, called 'The Art of Being' which focussed on intimacy and sexuality within relationships.

I have experience of working with issues of bereavement, relationship difficulties, trauma, depression, work place issues, and attachment difficulties.  I am interested and have experience of working with those who have emotional difficulties connected to having attended boarding school.

Please feel free to phone or e mail me should you have any questions about the counselling I can offer.

Training, qualifications & experience

In 2017 I qualified in Transactional Analysis with Humanistic counselling (Merit) (Middlesex University)

I have extensive experience of working with children and families from 1988 - 2016

In 1988 I received a Certificate of Qualification in Social Work

In 1978 I received a Certificate in Education for teaching Primary School children.

Whilst training as a Counsellor I had experience of working at St Francis Surgery in Eastleigh and also at Olive Branch, Winchester.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
