About me
I am a Person-Centred counsellor with 9+ years of experience counselling adults and young people experiencing various issues including anxiety, stress, burnout, low mood, depression, sleep disorders, relationship issues, and historical abuse. I qualified in 2016 with a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy from The University of Strathclyde, and have since completed training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), CBT for insomnia (CBT-i) and Solution-Focused Therapy.
I am dedicated to continuing professional development through additional training and learning. I have experience providing counselling in various settings that have included private practice, educational, third sector and over 6 years' experience working with Employee Assistance Programmes which support employees from various sectors (Police, NHS Staff, Doctors, Retail, Rail, Civil Service, Army, Government, Probation Service, Prison Staff, Hospitality, Social Workers, and so on). I am dedicated to promoting self-care, encouraging men’s mental health, and interested in the positive impact of creativity, football, music and writing on supporting wellbeing.
I provide a safe counselling space that provides non-judgmental support and empowerment for you to find ways to improve your mental health and wellbeing. I provide long-term and short term counselling via telephone, with face to face sessions available in professional counselling rooms in central Bury, Greater Manchester. I also provide some evening in-person sessions in therapy rooms in Rochdale, Greater Manchester.
I am passionate about anything relating to sleep, am an advocate for prioritising good sleep health as part of supporting mental health, and I am a member of the British Sleep Society (BSS). Being professionally and personally aware of the impact of sleep conditions on mental health, and vice versa, I set up the Sleep Support Project with the ethos that sleep needs to be prioritised as a significant part of supporting mental health and wellbeing, and that people living with long-term sleep disorders deserve tailored, informed emotional support.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
