About me
Welcome to my profile, my name is Lewis. Accredited member with the BACP.
You have taken the time to search for a counsellor, so let me tell you a bit about myself and what you can expect if you have an interest in starting your therapeutic journey with me.
This is the space where you can speak without the outside noise. You will have the time an space to speak about the challenges that has brought you to therapy. It can be difficult speaking to those around you, such as friends, family, partners or colleagues. Here, you will have the chance to speak openly, without the worry of judgement or being told how you should or shouldn't be feeling. This would be done in your own time and from a basis of two adults, simply talking.
I work with an Integrative approach, which means I don't work with a one size fits all style. Depending on what you wish to bring and discuss, depends on the way we can work and the tools we can use whilst working together. This could be exploring your past, your relationships, or it could be discussing challenges in the here and now and exploring tools to cope. Such as wellbeing or CBT techniques.
Whatever your reason is for seeking therapy, there is a space for you here to start this journey.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
It is important that you feel comfortable and at ease when picking someone who you wish open to.
With this in mind, I offer a free 20 minute phone consultation. This gives an opportunity of introductions and for you to discuss at a surface level of what your expectations of therapy are and any goals you may wish to achieve.
It gives an opportunity for me to introduce myself and let you know what to expect from me as a counsellor during our sessions.
Most importantly, you will get a feel of whether I can meet your needs and if you feel happy an comfortable to start your therapeutic journey.
