About me
Hello and welcome
I am Lea and I am hoping that I can be of some help to you.
I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor and my aim is to provide a safe space where you will feel cared for, heard and understood without judgement.
What is Person-Centred Counselling?
We each have an inborn capacity to grow and achieve our full potential, and with the help of a therapist, this process can be harnessed.
When we receive empathy, congruence and non judgmental warmth, no matter what is shared, we can learn to accept ourselves as we are.
When we feel cared-for, our self-worth and confidence can increase giving us internal resources to help us solve our own problems, and heal our own emotional suffering.
Therapy can also enable the exploration of our experiences, strengthens the image we have of ourselves and can help lead to self-fulfilment. Ultimately, the process can help restore control, quieten the negative narrative we have with ourselves, which can lead to a more fulfilling life.
It is my intention to create and develop a trusting therapeutic relationship between us, where you can acknowledge and value all of your feelings, even the most challenging ones.
I consider you to be the expert in your own life, so I don’t profess to have the answers to your problems or difficulties, I believe the answers, if there are any, lie within you. Because you are the only one who really knows how you feel inside, and only you know how you experience the world around you.
I will accept you and your values without judgement, and I will remain by your side in a real and genuine way, helping you navigate whatever is going on for you.
I can work with you in the short term or longer, depending on your needs.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I am available to work with you face to face, over the telephone, or online if you wish. Alternatively, if a counselling room is not for you, I offer ‘Walk and Talk’ sessions. Or if face to face from your own home feels more comfortable for you, depending on distance would also be considered. The decision is yours.
