About me

Hello, I'm Laura. I offer a warm, safe and supportive therapy space where you can be heard. Whatever you choose to share will be held in a confidential, secure and respected environment. We are all unique and I respect your individuality, therefore our work will be tailored to meet your individual needs and wishes.

When I'm not in the therapy room, you might find me in the sea or out in the mountains!

How Psychotherapy can help you

We all have a past that influences how we live our lives today and these life experiences can shape our view of ourselves, others, and the world. We can sometimes get stuck in unhelpful patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviour that can be limiting or destructive to us. Psychotherapy is a wonderful way of helping us understand ourselves and our situations better. In our work, we can help you become aware of old patterns that are no longer serving you and support your journey towards emotional well-being and personal growth.

My Approach

I am trained in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy, and my approach draws upon Psychodynamic and Psychoanalytic concepts, with a strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship. This means I work with both the conscious and unconscious processes that emerge in the therapeutic relationship. Often in Psychotherapy, historical relational patterns will arise in the therapeutic relationship, and I therefore like to be an active part in the work, asking questions, offering insights and highlighting patterns to help you become more self-aware. It is through this self-awareness that I believe healing, growth and change can occur.

My practice is neuro-affirmative and LGBTQI+ inclusive. I hold an intersectional lens in my work and I am always interested in how our difference emerges in the therapeutic relationship.

It can take bravery to start this work and it can at times be challenging. It is therefore important that you choose a therapist you feel can accompany you on this journey. I offer a free 30-minute initial meeting so you have a chance to meet me and experience what it is like to work together. Please get in touch if you have any questions or queries on what working together might be like.

Relationship therapy

Navigating Relationships can be challenging, especially if we haven't experienced healthy ways of relating. Relationship therapy can highlight issues around communication, attachment patterns, fears around intimacy, betrayal, power, alongside connection and belonging to name a few. People enter into relationship therapy for many reasons, and it may be that family conflict, value differences, difficult life transitions, loss, work-related stress, financial struggles or other issues are causing problems in your relationship.

Our work will involve exploring and understanding the challenges you are facing in your relationship, whilst having the safety of a therapist to hold whatever might arise between you. In relationship therapy, we can help you to become aware of unhelpful and destructive relational patterns, improve communication and connection with one-another and gain clarity in the relationship. For me, relationship therapy is about supporting the couple to find new ways to relate and connect with one another so that the relationship feels more fulfilling for you both.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a post-graduate Level 7 Diploma in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy and I am a fully qualified Psychotherapist, accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I work to the ethical codes and procedures of this professional organisation.

I have over 15 years’ experience of working with people in a therapeutic capacity, and over 6 years' experience working as a Psychotherapist. More latterly, I have worked within the child and adolescent care system. I have worked with various Mental Health charities and organisations, alongside my private practice work.

I have a particular interest in working with neurodivergence and with those who feel systemically oppressed. This may be through Abuse or Trauma which often manifest in different presenting issues. Some of which might include Anxiety, Depression, Lost Sense of Self, Identity Issues, Low Self-esteem and Self-harm. And more generally I am interested in patterns of relating.
