About me

I am a fully trained and experienced psychotherapist and counsellor working with adults and young adults over 16 years old.

I work with a wide range of issues including feelings of stress or anxiety, feeling depressed or unhappy, relationship problems, grief, bereavement and loss, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, anger, abuse, addiction, issues relating to sexuality, family issues, and work related issues.

I understand that it can feel lonely dealing with personal issues on your own and seeking therapy is an opportunity, away from friends and family, to explore and make sense of how you are feeling.

Whatever brings you to counselling, you and your life experiences are unique and counselling can be a rewarding experience where you can gain self-awareness and challenge your established ways of thinking by adapting and developing new ways of coping that work for you.  This might be difficult at times, but rest assured I will be alongside you providing a warm, compassionate and supportive environment where you can be heard and understood.

It is important you take the time to find a counsellor you feel you can connect with and trust.  I am a fully trained integrative therapist and I draw on different ways of working to meet your individual needs.  My relational and collaborative approach incorporates psychodynamic, humanistic and transpersonal methods of therapy.  These enable us to explore, at a pace that suits you, the relationship you have with yourself and others in your life right now, and when past experiences impact how you are feeling today, understanding these can help you to find resilience and coping strategies for how you may want to move forward.

We can work short term (one - six sessions) if you have something specific you want to focus on, or long-term (open ended) where we would review regularly to make sure you are getting what you need from our sessions.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) which is the main counselling regulatory body and am bound by its ethical framework and complaints procedure.

If you are unsure about what therapy is or whether it might work for you, please get in touch and we can talk about what you are experiencing and how therapy might help.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
