About me

Are you experiencing  difficulties like, low self worth, anxiety, depression and overwhelm, sadness and despair, frustration, anger and jealousy, difficulty relating to others, isolation and loneliness. Do you need a warm, caring, non-judgmental and confidential safe space that supports you when exploring your difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences.

I can support you when experiencing specific difficult life events, such as bereavement and loss and when exploring difficulties around relationship issues, upsetting experiences from the past or present, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, low confidence, and work-related stress.

I am qualified, registered integrative counsellor, offering weekly and fortnightly counselling sessions to individual adults on a long-, medium- or short-term basis and I provide face to face, online and telephone sessions to best meet your needs.

I believe under the right conditions’ i.e., when we feel accepted and met with love, care and support, we have a tendency to move towards what we need in life. Many of us early in life learn that some of our feelings and needs were not accepted by others leading to us finding it difficult to accept them ourselves. This may mean that we abandon our needs and parts of ourselves in order to adapt and this can lead to many forms of distress such as depression, anxiety, shame, shutting down or numbing out.

When we feel truly accepted by another human being, we are better able to accept ourselves. If you come to counselling with me, I will provide a warm, accepting, supportive, safe and empathic environment where we can explore your needs and feelings together. When accepting our needs (for example, safety, love, belonging and relationships, respect, excitement and stimulation, meaning and expressions and release of anger) we become better able to meet our own needs, leading to a more fulfilling and authentic life. When working together, I will support you and be fully present to your experience and I will facilitate the work but you will set the pace and depth that you want to go to, learning to trust yourself along the way.

When you are at a low point in life, talking or reaching out to others can be especially difficult. Yet, looking for help and support can be the first step to creating change in your life. .  If you are interested in exploring what it might be like to work with me as your counsellor, please do get in touch.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified person-centred, integrative counsellor, which means that based on your individual circumstances and needs, I can use elements of different approaches to help you explore and cope with your problems. I have also continued with professional development in polyvagal theory that supports you to move from a place of anxiousness to safety and connection.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
