About me

Are you experiencing difficulties like low self-esteem, low self-worth, low confidence, anxiety, depression, and stress? Perhaps you experience overwhelming feelings such as sadness, anger, fear, distress, or jealousy that may be difficult to deal with.  Is it difficult for you to relate to others and perhaps you feel isolated, lonely, or rejected?

Perhaps you have difficulties within your family or work relationships or maybe you are experiencing difficulties within your intimate relationship including separation or divorce.  Changes within relationships can be very difficult to cope with and maybe you are struggling with the uncertainty that change brings. Do you find yourself becoming tearful, angry, easily overwhelmed, or feeling helpless, powerless, shut down, anxious, and or depressed?

When we feel accepted and met with care and support, we have a tendency to move towards what we need in life. Many of us early in life learn that some of our feelings and needs were not accepted by others leading to us finding it difficult to accept them ourselves. This may mean that we abandon our needs and parts of ourselves to adapt and this can lead to many forms of distress such as depression, anxiety, shame, shutting down, or numbing out.

When we feel truly accepted by another human being, we can better accept ourselves. If you come to counselling with me, I will provide a warm, accepting, supportive, and safe place to explore your needs and feelings together. When accepting our needs (for example, safety, love, belonging and relationships, respect, excitement and stimulation, meaning and expressions, and releasing anger, we better meet our own needs, leading to a more fulfilling and authentic life. When working together, I will support you and be fully present in your experience and I will facilitate the work but you will set the pace and depth that you want to go to, learning to trust yourself along the way.

I am a qualified, registered integrative counsellor, offering weekly counselling sessions to individual adults on a long- medium- or short-term basis. I provide face-to-face, online, and telephone sessions to best meet your needs.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified person-centred, integrative counsellor, which means that based on your individual circumstances and needs, I can use elements of different approaches to help you explore and cope with your problems. I have also continued with professional development in polyvagal theory that supports you to move from a place of anxiousness to safety and connection.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
