About me

Hello, my name is Katie. Are you at a crossroads in your life, against a brick wall or feel trapped in a dark hole? I would like to help you. I am a member of the BACP professional body. As a fully trained, qualified counsellor, my focus is to provide a warm, safe space to help you navigate your way through difficult times.

Much of my work has been in the field of complex trauma, with people recovering from difficult childhood experiences, from sexual trauma or abuse they may have experienced at a young age which has impacted their lives in adult years. I also work with those who have experienced trauma in more recent years and am dedicated to helping people recover from this. I am experienced in working with anxiety, and depression, adapting to life-changing diagnoses, grief and loss which come as a result of many life events.

I offer the space to reflect, recover and re-evaluate life. I am keen to help adults, teenagers and young people find their way back. I firmly believe it is never too late to change and move forward with life.

I offer short and long-term therapy, sometimes people find that a few sessions are all they need to work things out. For others, a long-term approach may be helpful, particularly if difficulties have been there for a long time. The first session will be a chance for you to talk about how you have been feeling and what you may be hoping for. It is an opportunity for us to decide to work together.

Please feel free to call me for a chat, whether you prefer to phone or send me a message, I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
