About me

Hi and welcome to my profile,

I'm Kat and I'm a registered and accredited Counsellor, offering private Therapy and Pet Bereavement Therapy.

I'm a Counsellor but I have also been in therapy myself and understand the nerves, apprehension and doubts you might feel. That's why I offer a free, 20 minutes introductory call so that you can ask any questions that you might have and we can decide if I'm the right therapist for you.

To book yours, please get in touch. A warm welcome awaits you and I look forward to hearing from you 😊

Pet Bereavement Therapy

Losing your pet is a heart breaking and devastating experience. Having to make the decision to put your pet to sleep is probably one of the hardest decisions you'll ever have to make.

Pet Bereavement is often a hidden loss because not everyone understands the deep bond we have with our pets and the love we feel for them. Often people make insensitive or hurtful comments which can leave you feeling isolated and alone and questioning whether you should even feel upset. Please know that the pain and grief you feel is real and valid.

I'm a pet owner myself and have experienced the heart break of making the decision nobody wants to make when I had to put my beautiful cat Charlie to sleep last year.

How Pet Bereavement Therapy can help you

Together we will explore what you are going through, what your loss means to you and how it is affecting your life and wellbeing. I want to reassure you that a warm welcome awaits you and I will offer you a confidential and compassionate space in which to talk through your feelings and come to terms with your loss and experiences.

Therapy

  • Do you feel like you’re not good enough or that it’s not okay to be who you are?
  • Do you find yourself battling with self doubt or struggling to make decisions?
  • Perhaps you always put others first and describe yourself as a people pleaser but where does that leave you?
  • Do you find yourself putting on a brave face and hiding how you really feel?
  • Do you feel anxious but don’t know why or what to do about it?
  • Do you feel stuck?

Feeling low in confidence and not good enough can be really upsetting. Struggling with self doubt can leave you feeling worried, stressed and anxious. Not knowing where to start or what to change can feel overwhelming.

How Therapy can help you

  • As a therapist I provide you with the space and time you need, away from the distractions and noise of daily life so that you can hear your own voice.
  • Together we can explore, at your own pace, what is important to you and what might be getting in the way.
  • We can explore what might help you to become unstuck and find the answers that are right for you, so you can live the life you envision for yourself.

How simply talking can help

You might feel worried or overwhelmed by the thought of starting therapy. You might feel unsure about what to expect or worry about opening up to a complete stranger!

When you're struggling with feeling low in confidence or you are grieving, it can be difficult to express your own needs or to communicate them to the people around you.

Right now things might feel bleak and difficult and you might ask yourself how simply talking about things can help, but often we don't take the time to reflect on our feelings and experiences and therapy can give you an opportunity to step away and do just that, allowing you to figure things out.

What approach do you use?

My approach is tailored to your needs and focused on you (officially this is called Person centred Counselling).

Together we will explore what is going on for you, how this is making you feel and how you can move forwards.

This might mean helping you to come to terms with recent or past experiences, helping you to build confidence and exploring how you can express and deal with your feelings in a healthier way that feels right for you.

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile 😊

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
