About me

Are you feeling stressed or anxious? Do you have low mood or feel like you just can't cope anymore? Perhaps you are looking for help with anger issues or self-esteem?

Hello I'm Kate, a fully qualified and experienced counsellor and I offer confidential, online counselling via Zoom from my private practice room in East Sussex. I offer a free 15 minute zoom session prior to our first session.

I specialise in Integrative Therapy, which means I am trained in and utilise different therapeutic models, including Person-Centred, Gestalt and CBT, in response to your particular personal needs. I believe that each person is uniquely different, so no single approach to therapy can address the physical, social, emotional and psychological needs of all people.

I am passionate about counselling and its place in the world. Having both experienced and witnessed the positive benefits that having a safe, confidential space, in which to talk and explore our feelings and challenges can bring.

I believe in the restorative power of the right therapeutic relationship. I aim to provide the right conditions for you to explore your emotional landscape, come to terms with any negative feelings and to change and develop in your own way.

I can offering counselling for issues such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Low mood
  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Self esteem
  • Bereavement
  • Abuse
  • Identity Issues
  • Obsessions
  • Phobias
  • Sexuality
  • Sexual Identity
  • Relationships
  • Trauma
  • Work related issues

What happens next?

Sessions are scheduled for a time agreed between us and last fifty minutes. They usually run weekly, either for an agreed short-term period or longer-term, open-ended. We will agree on the length of your therapy together during our first session.

I believe that a key part of Person-Centred counselling is the relationship. To ensure that you feel like I am the right fit for you, and I feel that my skills match your needs

I offer a 15 minute zoom session, free of charge prior to our first session. This is an opportunity for us to meet and for you to share a brief outline of what has brought you to counselling.

If following this initial discussion you decide you would like to proceed with counselling, we will schedule our first session together to discuss elements such as:

  • the issues that have brought you to counselling and what you hope to achieve from it
  • how we will work together and what to expect
  • confidentiality
  • the length of your therapy and the review process.

If this sounds of interest, or you have any questions please feel free to contact me via email or phone.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
