About me

There are times when situations in our lives feel out of control and feelings can be difficult to manage. I provide a safe space for you to explore and develop a deeper understanding of your current and past relationships, behaviours and issues. Together we will work to help you develop insight to understand and manage your feelings. You will develop resilience to better manage difficult situations in personal, family and work relationships to help you gain a clearer sense of purpose, meaning and the ability to make the changes you hope for.

I am happy to work face to face or on video conference. If you choose to come to see me in person, I will send you clear guidelines of our COVID-19 procedures to ensure that we work as safely as possible.

If you are happy, we will start with a brief telephone chat before our initial meeting. The meeting will give us the chance to get know each other and see if we can work together in a way that will be helpful to you.

I completed my counselling training in 2014 and am also a qualified social worker with special interest in children and young people, their parents and the wider family.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained to work with adults in open ended psychodynamic counselling and have experience in working with adults experiencing a range of difficultes including depression, loss, bereavement, separation, relationship difficulties, self harm and suicidal thoughts, anxiety, emotional, physical and childhood sexual abuse. I am able to offer open ended or time limited counselling.

  • BACP/WPF Accredited Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling
  • BACP Accredited WPF Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling Theory and Skills
  • BA Social Work specialising in children and families

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
