About me

We all experience difficulties in our life, but when these difficulties start to impact our ability to enjoy life, work, and manage our relationships, we might want to get some extra support. Counselling provides a unique opportunity to talk through and process your experiences and feelings in a safe, confidential and consistent space.

My counselling rooms are located in two central Tunbridge Wells locations, and provide a calm, quiet and comfortable place to talk. I currently offer in-person sessions and also telephone sessions for those who cannot attend in person.

My services

I offer weekly counselling sessions, working with you to explore the root causes of your difficulties, which can often lie in your past experiences and early relationships. My sessions are client-led, with no agenda, where you can discuss whatever is on your mind. Together, we will work to better understand your early experiences, and how they may be impacting your life today.

Clients come to counselling with me for a range of experiences such as anxiety, stress, depression, relationship difficulties, problems with sex and intimacy, trauma, grief, bereavement, food and body image issues, self-doubt, intrusive thoughts, family conflict, questions about sense of self and identity, addiction, anger, pressure and intrusive or suicidal thoughts.

I work with a psychodynamic approach; psychodynamic counselling recognises the importance of unconscious thoughts and feelings, which may present themselves through dreams, or through the relationship between the two of us in the room. As needed, we may also discuss simple techniques to help manage overwhelming feelings that occur outside the counselling room, so you can feel better equipped to cope at difficult times.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified psychodynamic counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I have a degree in Psychology and experience working to support clients in different fields for many years.

Some of my recent Continuing Professional Development work has focused on disordered eating, gender identity, trauma, domestic abuse and working with suicidal ideation.

I believe it is important to uphold a high level of care and confidentiality and abide by the BACP Ethical Framework. I work with a supervisor to ensure that professional standards are maintained in my work and regularly undertake continuing professional development.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
