About me
Hello, I'm Julie, a BSc qualified person-centred therapist, thank you for reading my profile. Trying to process and make sense of our difficult issues may affect our mood, make us anxious, confused, or hurt. The way we are feeling impacts on our ability to make and maintain healthy, happy relationships. We need to feel cared about and valued. I do not take lightly the trust my clients place in me. It is earned by my empathy, reliability, my relational ethics and genuineness. I will offer kindness, warmth and respect, as we work together to understand and explore your challenges. Working from the person-centred approach means you are encouraged to speak freely and explore issues affecting you. I will support you to become more self aware, and by doing so, reveal your potential to achieve greater independence, and make choices that benefit you.
Seeking support is a step towards your wish to want to feel better, be more focussed, or to find your sense of purpose. If you choose to work with me, you will find that I am approachable, friendly, and always kind. It’s important to me that you feel heard and acknowledged.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a 1st Class BSc Honours degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy from the University of Salford, Greater Manchester. I am a qualified Counsellor registered with the counselling professional body, British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. As such, I work to their standards and adhere to their ethical framework.
I have a background in mental health nursing(RMN), adult social services and a Carers wellbeing advisor (NHS), which enables me to draw on my experiences of supporting people through difficult times. Understanding your emotions, reactions and behaviour, in response to thoughts and feelings, helps to make sense of your experiences. This understanding, or psychoeducation, can bring clarity. I may integrate ways of working to support you as an individual, tailoring sessions to meet your unique needs. For example using my training and experience in Mindfulness, Coaching, psychoeducation and anxiety management techniques.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
