About me

Depression and anxiety can affect any one of us because life is full of inevitable losses, sadness and difficulty. And sometimes you will need help. Counselling is an opportunity to talk through matters which worry or concern you, in a calm and confidential space.

I have an open, honest and compassionate approach to my work, and will enable you to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace, in a safe non-judgmental environment.  Often, understanding why we react the way we do can be the key to changing how we think and respond to others.

I am experienced in working with many issues, for example anxiety, addictions, abuse, anger management, bereavement, depression, low self-esteem, relationship issues, sexuality, low self-confidence, stress, and anything else which may be troubling you.  I work with individual adults, either face to face or on Zoom.

In my private practice I provide a personal, fully confidential service in a relaxed atmosphere.  I have also worked in an NHS setting, providing counselling for patients in a large GP’s practice, and as a Counsellor for clients who are recovering from alcohol and substance misuse, referred by local agencies.  I am an external Counsellor and Supervisor for large local Employers and EAP Providers.

Our first meeting will not commit you to further sessions unless you feel it is right for you.  Working together will enable you to develop your own resilience, promoting change and movement towards the resolution of personal difficulties and problems.

Please contact me either by email if you have any questions, or have a look at my website for some more information – www.julierowland.co.uk

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
