About me

Depression and anxiety can affect any one of us because life is full of inevitable losses, sadness and difficulty. And sometimes you will need help. Counselling is an opportunity to talk through matters which worry or concern you, in a calm and confidential space.

I have an open, honest and compassionate approach to my work, and will enable you to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace, in a safe non-judgmental environment.  Often, understanding why we react the way we do can be the key to changing how we think and respond to others.

I am experienced in working with many issues; for example anxiety, addictions, abuse, anger management, bereavement, depression, low self-esteem, relationship issues, sexuality, low self-confidence, stress, and anything else which may be troubling you.

I work with adults and young people.

I provide a personal, fully confidential service in a relaxed atmosphere, and have my private counselling and supervision practice in SA73 (between Haverfordwest and Milford Haven).

I have also worked in an NHS setting, providing counselling for patients in a large GP’s practice, and as a counsellor for clients who are recovering from alcohol and substance misuse, referred by local agencies. I am an external counsellor for Dyfed Powys Police, the Police Firearms Officers Association, Pembrokeshire County Council and Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority.

Our first meeting will not commit you to further sessions unless you feel it is right for you.  Working together will enable you to develop your own resilience, promoting change and movement towards the resolution of personal difficulties and problems.

Please contact me either by phone or email if you have any questions, or have a look at my website for some more information – www.julierowland.co.uk

I am a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor; a Registered Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, Reg MBACP (Accred), and abide by their code of ethics.
I have an up to date DBS enhanced disclosure and public liability insurance. I regularly attend supervision and professional training workshops as part of my continuing professional development, and for my own interest and growth as a practitioner.  My training base is a Professional Diploma in Integrative Counselling – a BACP Accredited course and I have a First Class Honours Degree in Counselling.

I also offer supervision for counsellors and health care professionals. I have an Advanced Diploma in Clinical Supervision, an NCS Accredited training. I am an Accredited Registrant member of the National Counselling Society, NCS (Accred). For more information about supervision please follow the supervision link on the right-hand side of this page.

I also work voluntarily as a supervisor with Pembrokeshire Counselling Service and in the past with Cruse (Bereavement).

Before training as a counsellor, I was self-employed for 10 years as a Reflexologist and Reiki Practitioner.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
