Julie Hudson - BACP Accredited Psychotherapist/Counsellor
Hello and welcome to my page. I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist and I have been practising since 2003.
All individuals seeking counselling have their own specific needs and I aim to offer you a safe, nurturing, comfortable and caring environment whereby you can express your concerns however big or small and work through any issues that are concerning you in the strictest confidence.
Over the years I have accumulated experience of working with wide a variety of individuals and currently my private practice welcomes clients of all ages, (11-70+)
If you are searching for counselling for a young person, I have an enhanced and regularly updated DBS certificate specifically for young people, and I have had a lot of experience of counselling 11-28 year old clients.
My counselling & psychotherapy work has taken place within education, at Bicton College for several years and for 9 years in a large secondary school in Exeter counselling Students and Staff. I have also worked for Young Devon, counselling young people, for Sidmouth Help Link counselling adults and I am currently counselling both adults and young people within my private practice.
I use an integrative approach which means I blend together theoretical concepts drawn from various Psychological approaches (e.g. CBT, TA, NLP) and Eastern philosophies (e.g. mindfulness) to suit my client’s needs.
The first step can be daunting however I wish to reassure you that the initial consultation is of no charge without any obligation and I will provide you with a confidential, safe caring environment conducting my work strictly within the BACP code of ethics.

"Julie is the most supportive, understanding and caring woman I have met. She takes a professional approach to her job, whilst instantly making you feel at ease, feel safe and like you have someone to talk to that will listen. Julie goes above and beyond to help you, and unlike other counsellors I have been seen by, she has amazing results.
"Julie Hudson is a compassionate, creative, sensitive, very experienced Counsellor and I would thoroughly recommend her. She brings warmth, empathy and humour. She is passionate about what she does, which impacts her relationships and makes people feel really valued.. Julie is highly professional and committed to supporting her clients, whilst maintaining very clear boundaries.
I saw Julie for a few years when I was in high school and struggling with home life and the acceptance of a medical condition in which I suffer. She helped me through the darkest times of my life.
I will always remember one thing she said to me, and I still live by this. "Find three things a day that make your heart sing" For me, she is one of those things. Thankyou Julie for everything you have done for me, and many others."
"I just wanted to say.......Thank you Julie. Not only have you been an amazing support to many students but also to colleagues. Always understanding and never judging. Full of encouragement to make us feel positive in what ever direction we may be heading. Without a shadow of a doubt I would not hesitate in recommending you Julie."
"Julie helped me open up about my past, present and helped me deal with those emotions and overcome them, she was always kind hearted, warm and welcoming ...we also spoke about myself, how I felt, as I was still only young but aware of my sexuality we touched basis a few times about that as well, she made me feel it was okay, it wasn't wrong to be who I am, it took time but once I came to except who I was, I owe it to Julie for starting that acceptance of myself so thank you. Thank you for being there"
"Julie was my counsellor for most of my years in secondary school. She doesn't tell you how to react or behave or tell you whether your dealing with something in a right or wrong way she helps you to deal with it YOUR way without causing any emotional or physical hurt to not only yourself but to the people around you. Not only did she help me to deal with underlying issues and move on from them, she also become someone I would class as a friend, myself, my family and friends of mine that also had her help are very grateful for everything she has done."
