I can help you discover, resolve and manage aspects of your life that you find difficult or presently overwhelming. Talking in a safe therapeutic space can help you find clarity within, reaching a better understanding which is empowering; allowing you to find your true self and resources which sets you free from mental and emotional turmoil.
I specialise in working with individuals suffering with Trauma, Anxiety, PTSD, Depression, Phobias & Relationship difficulties. EMDR Therapy resolves any distressing memories or events that cause you disturbance in the present. Clients recover quickly with EMDR Therapy usually within 6-24 sessions in total.
EMDR Therapy processes old disturbing memories and events that are stored in the brain which can get triggered over and over again in the present moment, impacting on us emotionally, psychologically and physiologically. Old disturbing memories and life events can stop us from living the life we want. EMDR therapy sets you free and resolves the old problems.
EMDR therapy is the most effective treatment for PTSD, Anxiety, Depression and Relationship difficulties. EMDR therapy is evidence based and recommended by the NICE guidelines. Please call me to discuss further why this is the most suitable form of therapy for you.
I have been extremely successful in helping people overcome their difficulties since 2008. Being a therapist is my life purpose, helping you to overcome your struggles. I have sat in the client's chair and understand what it's like undergoing counselling & EMDR therapy. How anxiety provoking and challenging it is starting therapy, but also how empowering the journey of self discovery can be. That's where the name Freedom Within Counselling came from, it's how I felt overcoming my difficulties.

I am Person Centred at the core of therapy, being non judgemental, accepting, providing empathy and going at your pace. This creates a therapeutic relationship which is the vehicle for change (Rogers). Integrative Counselling, or a pluristic approach means that I am trained to be able to call upon various techniques to assist you.
EMDR Therapy - Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing. EMDR therapy is evidence based and recommended by the NICE guidelines. EMDR therapy is a fast and effective treatment for PTSD, Trauma, Anxiety, Phobias also old disturbing memories or life events that cause you emotional, psychological or physical distress in the present.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) helps identify the interconnection of our thoughts, feelings and behaviours in past or present situations. CBT helps to empower us and gain a different perspective.
Psychodynamic Therapy looks at the importance of the unconscious and how past experiences could be shaping current behaviours. Exploring childhood relationships with parents and other significant people brings in awareness of learnt behaviours and feelings. The therapist focuses on the dynamics of the client/therapist relationship where transference can take place, such as when the client projects their feelings experienced in previous significant relationships on to the therapist. Allowing the client to explore this in a safe therapeutic space can bring positive change, understanding, finding our true self and way of being.
Mindfulness Based Approaches are beneficial and empowering for some people too; it is a relaxation technique which helps to centre ourselves, and be more grounded in our body, letting go of any thoughts. Just noticing what maybe present, accepting of how things are moment by moment. Mindfulness allows one to become more fully functioning in our awareness and daily lives.
I am a EMDR Accredited Practitioner and a Accredited member of BACP following their code of ethics also I have monthly supervision as part of the requirement for safe practice.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
