About me

Hello,

I am a Pluralistic Counsellor which means I use a range of counselling approaches to find a bespoke way of working with each person. I offer a calm, safe and non-judgmental space to help adults feel heard and understood. I help those who are feeling overwhelmed, lost, or unable to cope find some control and purpose.

I can meet you face to face for counselling sessions from our office in Dunfermline. Or we can meet remotely via the online platforms of Zoom and WhatsApp as well as telephone sessions.

I will listen to you and then together we can explore your concerns in a way that empowers you to create positive change.

Experience in Private Practice

I have focused my counselling career on working with adults who have challenges that impact their quality of life. I believe that we are all unique and that we all go through tough times. Sometimes life throws too much at us to cope and sometimes we just don’t know what’s behind our issues. I consider that true courage is in seeking help.

I have many years’ experience of working with courageous people who want to find a better way of living (most of whom didn’t believe they had courage!). In my Private Practice I have helped those with challenges around anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, self-esteem, anger management and relationships.

Other Experience

I have worked in 3rd Sector Charities providing support to students who have challenges with the pressures of university life. Also with a counselling research organisation, gaining experience working with addictions, quality of life-limiting illnesses and CPTSD.

Additional Information

In addition to my Counselling Private Practice, I am also a Lecturer at College delivering HNC and HND Counselling courses.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
