About me
Sometimes we may feel a bit stuck in life, like something needs to change but we can’t yet see how. Talking can help unravel what’s on your mind and figure out where you would like to go next.
I aim to provide a safe space for you to talk about the things that are difficult and may be holding you back. I will listen without giving advice or judgement to allow you to explore your thoughts and feelings and hopefully to find your way forward. I believe the relationship is key in counselling and I use a variety of tools to create an individual approach for you. I offer both short-term and long-term counselling according to your needs which we can discuss together.
Training, qualifications & experience
I'm a qualified counsellor with a Diploma in Counselling Practice and a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). My training was mainly focused on the psychodynamic approach to therapy, looking at how our past influences us in ways we may not be fully aware. I also have a grounding in humanistic and CBT approaches and have done additional training to work with people who have experienced trauma.
I have experience working with a number of local mental health charities and have worked with a range of different presenting issues including anxiety, depression and bereavement. I have experience working with people experiencing workplace-related stress and those with a caring role. I also work with people to help them learn tools such as breathing techniques and grounding to manage their wellbeing.
I undertake regular continuing professional development to enhance my practice.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Finding the right fit for therapy is key. Before beginning therapy we would have an initial chat to discuss your hopes for counselling and explore whether we could work together.
