About me

Are you feeling anxious, have periods of low mood, feel overwhelmed or are finding it difficult to cope? Perhaps you are struggling with a specific loss, life event or relationship or are taking a positive step to improve your mental health? I am a fully qualified, experienced counsellor offering in person counselling in Dorking and online or telephone counselling across the UK.

I offer a calm, safe and confidential space to explore any life challenges or trauma from your past, in your current life or anxieties/concerns around the future. Together, we can work towards positive change and growth which may be through acceptance and understanding or by making changes to the way you view yourself or the world around you.

***How I work with my clients***

Every client is unique, presenting with different struggles and challenges, so I tailor my approach to each clients needs. I work intergratively incorporating a number of recognised and established therapies. I work predominantly in a person centred way but also introducing problem solving and coping strategies, if needed, which are more goal focused and can help move forward with positivity. Some clients also prefer to work in a more creative way so we can discuss what you feel comfortable with and take it from there at your pace.

*** Client testimony***

"Jo made me feel so comfortable and relaxed, I talked about things I hadn’t talked about before with anyone. I feel so much calmer and at ease in my life now. Jo helped me at a difficult time in my life, more than she will ever know."

***Next steps***

Finding the right counsellor can be daunting and it is important you feel comfortable and relaxed with the counsellor you choose. I offer a free 20 minute in person, online or telephone consultation for us to meet, for you to explain your situation and for me to tell you a little more about how I work. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have about therapy. After the consultation, you can decide if would like to continue and pursue short or longer term counselling.

Drop me an email. I respond to all enquiries within 24 hours. If you have not had an email reply, please check your JUNK/SPAM inbox, as my email may go there.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
