About me

I believe it is really important to give time and space to our emotional well being. We live in a world with many demands placed upon us and at times it can be difficult to cope. Over time it is possible to develop unhelpful ways of dealing with stress or we may try to avoid negative feelings by ignoring them, which can make them worse.

I believe that everyone has the capacity to make changes and therapy provides a safe and confidential space to explore how you're feeling and develop strategies to help you cope with the demands of life or to overcome difficult past or current experiences.

It is important to remember that therapy is not a miracle cure and takes time and commitment to get the most out of it. Working together, I hope to help you learn more about how your thoughts and behaviours are interacting, what may have lead to these patterns developing and what you can do to feel more in control of your feelings.

I aim to make therapy as accessible as possible and can offer therapy appointments in person or via Google Meet video. I also offer walking sessions for those who may wish to talk and walk.

I value each person as a unique individual, recognising and respecting differences, tailoring treatment to reflect the individual.  We can discuss your hopes for therapy and decide what would work best for you. I offer long term and short term therapy, as well as maintenance sessions for those wanting intermittent check ins after an initial period therapy.

Training, qualifications & experience

Working for NHS services for over 10 years, I have been lucky to work with a wide variety of professionals and to receive high quality continuous professional development from experts at the Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College London, which is a leading institution for training in psychology and for clinical research.  I have also been fortunate to receive specialist supervision from the Centre of Anxiety Disorders and Trauma (CADAT) which is the national service specialising in treating anxiety disorders.

I have professional accreditation with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapist (BABCP) and I am committed to providing evidence-based therapy in line with guidelines provided by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence. This means that the therapy has been thoroughly tested to ensure it is effective in the treatment of particular psychological difficulties. I stay up to date with the latest research and treatment protocols by attending training sessions and read current research papers published by the BABCP and British Psychology Society (BPS).
