About me
When you're feeling overwhelmed, confused or just sad, it's not always easy to understand why or how we have got to that place. It may feel like it's taking over your life and you can't stop it. Talking to someone can help however I understand how hard it can be to take that first step. I would welcome the opportunity to talk with you and see if I am the right person to help you to find your way. You've come this far so why not take that next step?
I work with both Individual and Couples using the Person Centred approach developed by Carl Rogers. It is a talking therapy that allows you to explore what you are experiencing in a way that is right for you and at a pace you are comfortable with. I won't give you the answers, but I'll help you to understand how you can best help yourself, after all, you need to be able to do that when I'm not there.
I offer a free 30 minute introductory call either by phone or online to give you an opportunity to get to know me a little better so you can gauge if you feel comfortable to work with me.
Why Person-Centred Counselling?
What drew me to train as a Person Centred Counsellor is that it puts who you are at the centre of our work together and I trust in the belief that you are the person who knows yourself best. It is a talking Therapy that allows you to look at whatever you want to bring to the session in your own way respecting that you are a unique individual who knows what is best for you. You unlock what you need to when the time is right for you. From my own experience of personal counselling, I can reassure you that using this approach you will instinctively find your way and I will help you on that journey.
My experience
I have experience in the areas of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, ADHD, relationship issues, work related stress, Trauma, PTSD, Loss, Bereavement and abuse. I have come to Counselling later in my life, however I believe my life and work experience enriches how I work. As well as my private practice I also volunteer with a charity providing counselling for victims of road traffic accidents. I have worked extensively with veterans of the Armed Forces and welcome enquiries from those who have served or are serving. Through my own experience of Counselling, I have come to recognise the value of self-care and this is something I like to explore with all my clients. For me, walking, being outside in nature and spending time with my dogs is a great way of helping me to unwind and give my brain a rest!

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
