About me

I have been working with children, young people and their families for over 30 years. My professional training is in clinical psychology and I am also a family therapist. I am the parent of four young adults and have lived and worked in Devon for many years.

My focus is to offer families an opportunity to explore their concerns within a safe and supportive environment and includes working with individuals, families, and groups.

I specialise in working with trauma and it's impact on the individual and the family, which including bullying, road traffic accidents, emotional, physical and sexual abuse, bereavement, developmental trauma. I have experience working with a range of mental health difficulties which individuals face such as anxiety, anger, low mood, low self-esteem, fears and phobias, exam stress, physical illness and disability, autistic spectrum condition, school problems, and family relation problems. I have experience working with looked after children and their adoptive families individually, with parents/carers and with groups using an attachment focused approach.

The best way to find who the right person for you is either to speak to one another or meet. I am happy to be contacted by email and mobile phone for an initial conversation before we arrange a session and I would usually offer to meet parents first, before I meet with a child or young person to discuss background information and agree how we plan to work together.

Training, qualifications & experience

Clinical Psychologists have extensive training in assessing a range of psychological difficulties and determining the most appropriate treatment to help you, as well as being trained in providing more than one type of treating therapy.

My therapeutic approach is based on 30 years of working with children and families and undertaken regular post-graduate therapy training and continuing professional development. My approach is integrative, drawing principally on systemic theories, narrative therapy, developmental psychology, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and cognitive behavioural strategies. I also draw on my experiences of being a parent of four young adults and the oldest of two siblings in my family of origin.
