About me
Hello, my name is Jan and welcome. I provide counselling and psychotherapy to young people (aged 12 and above), adults, and couples.
There are many reasons why someone might seek therapy.
You may feel stuck, sad, or overwhelmed. Perhaps you are struggling with low mood, persistent negative thoughts or overthinking. You might feel unheard, longing to express things you’ve never said aloud. If so, therapy could provide the support you need.
What I Can Help With
My experience includes working with a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, grief, loss, addictions, relationship challenges, co-dependency, eating disorders, and shame. Whatever your circumstances, I am committed to helping you.
The Therapeutic Process
Therapy is often a journey of change. When you reach a point where you recognise "enough is enough," together we can identify your options and build resilience. Our work will focus on creating a trusting therapeutic relationship, allowing you the space to explore your thoughts and feelings.
How We Work Together
In our initial sessions, I’ll listen to your story with empathy, compassion, and warmth. The experience of being understood can be profoundly healing. I observe your thought patterns and identify instances of negative biases or unhelpful thinking shortcuts when they occur. By increasing awareness of these patterns, we can explore how they might be affecting your mood and behaviours.
Most importantly, I will help you to notice your feelings. Emotions are crucial guides—they deserve to be acknowledged, not ignored or suppressed. Though sitting with strong feelings can be challenging, I will support you and help you to gradually acknowledge your feelings.
Counselling and Psychotherapy Approaches
There are many types of therapy available. I use an integrative approach grounded in person-centred principles, aiming to build a trusting and empathetic relationship. In my practice, I draw on various theories, including Psychodynamic, Attachment Theory, and Transactional Analysis. This allows me to address a wide range of issues, whether rooted in the past or present. Sessions are open-ended, and you are free to end your therapeutic journey with me at any time.
What to Expect When You Reach Out
I understand that seeking help can require great courage. I offer an initial appointment at a time that suits you and strive to make you feel comfortable and at ease. My approach is warm, understanding, and without judgment, helping you decide the best way forward for you.
Support Through Life’s Challenges
Life can be unpredictable and sometimes overwhelming. Major events can have a huge impact, and few lives move smoothly at all times. You do not need to face these challenges alone. If you would like to book an initial session, please do get in touch and begin your therapeutic journey.

I am an accredited member of the BACP, which means I adhere to ethical standards and always prioritise your wellbeing. Based in Charvil near Twyford, Wokingham, Bracknell, Reading, Henley, and Woodley, I am also qualified to offer online sessions.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
I work with Codependency, which is classed as an addiction. Often if we come from dysfunctional families we can enter into codependent relationships with loved ones and friends, this is often about shame, control and a loss of identity.
We end up living our lives and being responsible for another person at the expense of our own wellbeing our needs and identity gets lost.
Love addiction is another area that I specialise in, it has certain cross overs with codependency but it forms in our love relationships and relationships will become obsessive, toxic and very painful.
