About me

 Hi, I'm Jamie...

Do you feel isolated, rejected, hurt, or sad? Are you from a marginalised community or feel that you don’t fit in? Counselling can help by providing a safe and calm space to talk, and I will support you as you explore the thoughts and emotions that feel challenging.

As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I understand what it’s like to feel different from ‘normal’ and work with clients empathetically and non-judgmentally, believing that our differences are what make us all unique and beautiful.

I'm passionate about helping people heal from their childhood traumas, increasing self-confidence, and strengthening the relationships you have with yourself and with others. I work well with people who aim to be kinder to themselves and are curious about healthier boundaries.

I'm dedicated and experienced in providing support to individuals from marginalised populations and those affected by loss. Through the practice of self-compassion and self-nurturing, I aim to enhance self-worth and self-acceptance while also enabling others to experience less fear and anxiety about painful emotions.

Having someone next to you on your healing journey is so important—it helps you feel less isolated and alone. I deeply care about the well-being of everyone I work with. I have met people from all walks of life; everyone is welcome.

As an integrated therapist I'm of the believe that there isn't just one therapy strategy that can benefit a client in every circumstance. Instead, I consider you as a unique individual and your circumstances, using aspects of several approaches to support you in your exploration and problem-solving.

The person-centred approach is at the core of my work, offering empathy, understanding, and acceptance. I also integrate psychodynamic and transactional analysis theories into my practice by acknowledging the importance of the past and patterns of feeling, thinking, and behaviour in the present moment.

As your therapist, I want to help you along the way and at every stage of the therapeutic process. We will come up with solutions that work for you collectively by providing you with compassion, empathy, honesty, and non-judgment. I believe you are the expert in your life and that you deserve a space to find those answers.

I work with clients online throughout the UK. If you’d like to discuss how counselling could help you, I offer a free 15-minute introduction where we can talk about what brings you to counselling and see if we think we’d work well together.

How does it work?

When you get in touch via email, we will arrange a complimentary conversation that lasts 15 minutes in which you can find out more information about the support you are looking for and if I am the right person for you. We can then arrange a time that is convenient for us both to have the assessment and initial first session.

Sessions are £55 per session for individuals and £75 per session for couples and last 50 minutes, and I have concessions available for students and people affected by the cost of living crisis.

My first session
The first session would entail your assessment and further exploration of what has brought you here. You will have the opportunity to ask more questions, and we can explore goals that you would like to work towards in therapy.

By the end of the first session, you will have a feel for what it would be like to work with me and if I am the right therapist for you.  You are not obligated to continue if you decide not to. After all, it's important that you feel completely comfortable with your decision to work with me and that we are the right fit.

Get in touch now to discuss how counselling could help you.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
