Helen Brady UKCP Accredited Psychotherapeutic Counsellor
Hi, I am a Psychotherapeutic Relational Centred Counsellor based at my private practice in Market Weighton.
I work with adults and also teenagers over the age of 14; I offer a safe, welcoming space in which I will support you to explore your difficulties. I have experience of working with childhood trauma, anxiety, loss, domestic abuse, divorce, separation and the difficulties that parenting can sometimes bring.
I offer both short term and long term work and I believe the key element to successful therapy is an enabling and trusting relationship in which you feel safe to talk. I will listen to your difficulties in a non-judgemental way and allow you the time and space for you to talk. To support you to do this I am able to draw upon different theories/types of psychotherapeutic counselling to find what best suits you, including Gestalt and working creatively. I believe in strict boundaries around confidentiality and abide by the code of ethics of UKCP. I am DBS checked and hold indemnity insurance.
Taking those first steps to get support for yourself can be scary, I can’t promise that therapy will be easy but I have learnt through my own experience of therapy, that by giving ourselves the time and having a safe and confidential space to talk can enable us to grow and overcome our difficulties.
Training, qualifications & experience
Hi, I hold an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Relational Centred Psychotherapeutic Counselling and I am a member of UKCP and I abide by their Code of Ethics and Professional Practice.
I also hold the following qualifications:
Certificate in Therapeutic Skills for Schools and Communities.
Certificate in Training the Trainer in Therapeutic Skills for Schools and Communities.
Adult Mental Health First Aid Certificate
Youth Mental Health First Aid Certificate
Open University Advanced Certificate in Early Year
Open University Level 1 Understanding Autism in the modern world
I hold a particular interest in support individuals affected by childhood trauma (and how this impacts on adult lives), domestic abuse, and supporting carers whose children have social and communication difficulties.
I have many years’ experience of working in an educational environment and supporting parents. I am currently an associate of Focus counselling where I primarily see clients through the NHS, Let's Talk initiative.
I offer Therapeutic Skills Training to Teachers and support Staff at affordable rates.
