About me

Hi, I'm Harriet. I'm an integrative counsellor and therapeutic coach offering both short-term well-being interventions and longer-term psychotherapeutic counselling.  With training and experience in both psychotherapeutic counselling and coaching, I can draw on a wide range of approaches to meet the unique needs of my clients. I will offer you a safe space, kindness, understanding and honesty so that we can work together to address your concerns.

My clients are often people who are struggling to manage or make sense of life transitions, such as changes to relationships, work or health, moving from one phase of life to another, family difficulties or identity questions. I also often work with people with conditions such as ADHD and autism, health worries and people who are finding that stress and anxiety are overwhelming them.

I'm an accredited BACP counsellor and have lots of experience working with people in health, education and charity settings, as well as in private practice. For many years, the majority of my work has been with young people, 16-25, most recently in the university sector.

As well as having completed additional training to work with young people, I have specific knowledge and experience of working with neurodiverse individuals.

I'm currently working online with individual clients who either self-refer or come to me via private health or employee assistance services.

I also offer counselling supervision and, for those of you who might be interested in this, the core parts of my integrative model come from the principles of integrative psychotherapy, humanistic approaches, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis and systems theory. My perspective is also informed by lifespan development, attachment theory and neuroscience.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.
