About me

Hi, I'm Hanna, an Integrative Counsellor, who specialises in working with women and women's issues, having over 2 years of experience working within a women's charity based in Derbyshire.

I understand that asking for help can be daunting and that it is entirely normal to feel overwhelmed when opening up to a stranger. My aim is to put you at ease and make you feel as comfortable as possible, enabling us to explore the issues that led you to seek counselling to help you become the best version of yourself.

As an Integrative Counsellor, my core values are based on a person-centered approach, this means I can adapt my style and methods to suit the individual; whilst also offering a safe, non-judgmental, empathic space. I believe that you, the client needs to be at the heart of every session and that by providing a positive, confidential relationship we can explore the difficulties you face whilst supporting the change you want.

My Private Practice focuses on supporting people with a range of long and short-term issues, including anxiety and depression, domestic abuse and trauma, general work life and stress, grief and bereavement, relationship issues, low self-esteem, low confidence and self-defeating behaviours.

Sessions are 50 minutes long, and I offer evening appointments. These can either be weekly, fortnightly or monthly depending on your needs. I offer a free 30 consultation, this is not a 'session' but an informal chat to talk about what brings you to counselling and answer any questions or concerns you may have. I am based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling which is based on an integrative approach, this means I can draw on my knowledge of several counselling theories such as Psychodynamic (exploring how the past can be influencing the present and current behaviours), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - understanding the link between, thoughts, emotions and actions), Humanistic (focusing on you and how you perceive yourself), TA (Transactional Analysis - looking at the different ways you communicate and problem solving), allowing me to adapt to work best to your needs.

During my training, I was privileged to work at a Women's centre, where I worked with several clients with a variety of complex issues, from depression, suicide, complex trauma including domestic abuse, addiction and relationship issues with self and others, building my skill base throughout this experience. Alongside this I have worked with the organisation Treetops, focusing on grief and bereavement, supporting individuals with death from life-limiting illnesses.
