About me

As an experienced Counsellor who has worked with individuals, couples and groups for over 20 years, I offer a safe space for INDIVIDUAL CLIENTS to explore why they are struggling in their lives. You may feel depressed, lonely, anxious, no issue is too big or too small, if it's standing in the way of you leading the life you want. I provide a calm and supportive environment , where you can be heard and valued in order to explore whatever difficulties you may be experiences. I firmly believe that if we know and understand ourselves better,  by looking at unresolved issues, it is this awareness that is the key to work out how to make better choices for a better life.

Lasting changes CAN happen, and  I am fully committed to support and challenge them to move towards that. This time is your time to be supported and challenged to make changes and move forward in your life in ways that work for you.

I have also worked with both individuals as well as couples, experiencing life challenging situations about re-locating either within the UK, moving abroad or returning to the UK. Moving to a foreign country with different language, different culture, different climate and perhaps far away, can feel very challenging. I speak here from a number of personal experiences but would also add how enriching it can be.

COUPLES COUNSELLING offers a safe and supportive environment to give the couple an important opportunity to be heard and understood. Relationships are complex so with a compassionate, non-judgemental therapist present, partners are helped to communicate again by discussing issues or problems that had previously felt too difficult or unsafe. This enables them to find creative and mutually beneficial solutions.

With couples who have already decided to go their separate ways,  counselling can support them to make this happen in the best way possible, in these difficult circumstances.

I have experience working with both opposite sex as well as same sex couples over many years.

Being part of an Anglo-Swedish couple for many years, has given me experience of the various and specific challenges this can create.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
