About me

I am a qualified Transactional Analysis (TA) counsellor and member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, anger, addiction, past or present trauma, shame, and LGBTQIA+ related issues.

Life can bring many challenges where you may feel overwhelmed. It may be a specific life event, relationship problems or work related stress; or an ongoing anxiety, depression or low mood that concerns you. Perhaps you have questions of identity? Or perhaps feel your life is lacking purpose? Life can be difficult to navigate and this is where counselling can support you.

Developing a relationship with a counsellor can provide you one of the most profound experiences for personal growth. Talking to someone that is impartial, separate from your social circle, and who has undergone specialist training provides a unique relationship. You can speak out loud your questions and experiences, where you will be fully heard, without judgement.

In therapy with me, you can assess your life in detail, understand your feelings and where it is you seek change. Alongside building our relationship, you will learn the necessary tools that can be implemented into your life where you can develop insights and gain new perspectives that lead to a more fulfilling and empowered life.

I also hold a keen interest in shame related issues and actively work with the Jungian concept of the “shadow” to establish which parts of you have been hidden and repressed and how we can integrate these back into your life.

How I work

Alongside developing the counselling relationship with you, central to my approach is understanding the quality of your relationship to yourself and others. Most importantly, we are looking for you to develop an internally allied sense of self.

To enable this, I draw on multiple approaches to psychotherapy treatment including Transactional Analysis,  psychoanalysis, attachment theory, Carl Jung’s shadow and archetypal theory and aspects of cognitive behavioural therapy.

Using a combination of these approaches we can tailor sessions specific to your needs.

Introductory call:

Finding a therapist can feel like a daunting task. It is important to find someone  you feel comfortable with. This is why I offer a free introductory call where you have the chance to talk about the challenges you face and where you can ask any questions. From there, you can take the next step and arrange an initial consultation if you choose to.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
