About me

Hello, I'm Gemma, a BACP registered therapist/counsellor based in Salisbury and Bournemouth.

My approach to counselling is Humanistic, with a particular emphasis on Carl Rogers’ Person-Centred Theory. During counselling sessions, we will work together to fulfil the potential that lies within you, at a pace that is comfortable to you.

I work with anxiety, depression and a broad range of other presenting concerns. I am autism affirming and have experience of working with all ages, from 11 years and up.

You are the expert of you; my role is to walk beside you in your journey, helping you to identify and process the things that may be holding you back.

I offer telephone, virtual and in-person counselling from my therapy rooms in central Salisbury and Winton, Bournemouth.

Training, qualifications & experience

CPCAB Level 4 Diploma Therapeutic Counselling. My core theory is Humanistic, incorporating elements of Person-Centred, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis. I may borrow from other theories where this may be beneficial to you.

Redlands Introduction to Working with Children & Young People, May 2023.

Counsellor at YMCA Bournemouth since 2022, working with a range of ages and presenting concerns.

School Counsellor for Dynamic Therapy Solutions since September 2023.

Counsellor at Ebble Counselling

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
