About me
Some people come to therapy because they want to understand or talk about difficult feelings rooted in their childhood, perhaps attempting to have better relationships with family members, a partner or friends. Central to my work is the quality of the relationship between us, I am often described as a warm, emphatic therapist.
I specialise in the treatment of anxiety and depression, depersonalisation disorder, first/second generation cultural struggles, race, gender struggles, LGBT identity issues, feelings of shame and guilt and family relationships.
About Myself
My background is in visual arts and I have an MA in this field and I am originally from Peru and speak Spanish as well as English. Perhaps this is the reason why people from mixed backgrounds, some who travel and have settle here in the UK and some who live abroad seem to be often amongst the people who come to see me for therapy. I have frequently been told they feel at ease and understood with me. We will not shy away from understanding and coming to terms with your own experience of culture, context, race and gender identity politics and the role it plays in the difficulties you encounter in your daily life.
I started my career in social work and I have experience working with people who struggled with addictions and people with Mild Learning and Disabilities. Having worked for the NHS for a few years and moved into my private practice 8 years ago and I have a 4 year old.
My professional development has seen me undertake extensive and continuous personal psychotherapy and counselling. One of the benefits of which, is to help me empathise with your experience of coming for therapy.
How do I work
I offer a 50 min free consultation, which should give you an idea of how I work. The following sessions usually take at place the same day and time that is suitable to you, usually on a weekly basis.

I have worked in mental health for over eight years both in private practice and for the NHS. My clinical experience includes providing psychodynamic therapy and mental health assessments for the NHS, private and charity sector.
I have experience working with the LGBT community and people from diverse cultural backgrounds, first /second generation cultural struggle. I am able to provide therapy in both English and Spanish.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

HOW DO I KNOW IF THIS IS FOR ME?
My work always begins with a thorough assessment of the nature of your problem and usually takes one hour. This session should give you an idea of how I work and if I am the right person for you. If you decide to go forward, we can discuss options for a treatment plan, and decide the focus and length of your treatment. Sessions are usually on a weekly basis at the same day and time we agree.
