About me

Counselling can often feel like the biggest and hardest step to take, but as Brene Brown once said “vulnerability is the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, courage, empathy, and creativity. It is the source of hope, empathy, accountability, and authenticity”. This is what The Sage Therapist aims to offer you within counselling sessions, the space and safety to be vulnerable and access various parts of yourself.

I have gained experience from working in women's centres and domestic abuse organisations where the main themes involve trauma and abuse.

Working together is a collaborative process and therefore I offer both short-term and longer open-ended work so that you have the amount of time you need. I work with adults and young people (16 and over).

Training, qualifications & experience

As a qualified integrative counsellor, I combine a variety of therapeutic approaches to provide a personal and effective relationship that supports getting your needs met. Currently, I am able to offer telephone and online therapy sessions.

I believe at the core of therapy is the relationship that we share therefore I will offer you a space to work collaboratively with me to ensure you have autonomy and trust. I hope sessions offer you a deeper understanding of yourself so that you can build self-esteem and new ways of coping with the stresses that life throws at us.

My initial training was in Counselling skills, in which I completed levels 1-3. I then went on to obtain an FdSc Degree in Integrative Counselling from the University of Greenwich.

As well as my private practice, I am also a therapist for a Women's Centre and outreach worker for LGBTQIA+ individuals experiencing domestic abuse.

I continue to develop my skills by attending CPD (Continuing Professional Development) workshops and events regularly.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
