About me
I am a qualified Person centred counsellor and also an Integrative psychotherapist with over 10 years experience working for Mind and in private practice. I offer long-term and short-term counselling to adults and young people and, working in a quiet location in the centre of Wedmore, my aim is always to provide a warm and confidential space in which you can feel safe, understood and explore the things that feel important to you.
As an Integrative therapist I work with clients in a variety of ways combining person centred theory with transactional analysis, cognitive behavioural therapy and solution focussed therapy but also make good use of my specialist training in grief and trauma. This may well mean very little to you and I am happy to explain, but in a nutshell means that I tailor my work to suit your needs as an individual. Although my methods might differ from client to client, my primary aim remains constant. I would always seek to build a strong and supportive working relationship in which you can trust and through which you can gain insight and make discoveries, challenge long held assumptions, and make positive changes in your life, feeling better about yourself in the process.
My approach is warm, understanding and non-judgemental yet also insightful and exploratory. I work creatively and am pro-active but will always allow you your own agenda and the space to make your own decisions.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a Person-Centred practitioner at heart, meaning that I put you as an individual at the very centre of the counselling process. That said, I am best described as an Integrative practitioner combining this person-centred ethos with other models of counselling and psychotherapy. Depending on my clients' needs, I am trained to incorporate techniques associated with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focussed Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Guided Visualisation and Transactional Analysis into my work.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
