About me

I am a BACP-registered counsellor / psychotherapist. I have been in practice for the past 8 years.

I work with adults (singles and couples) from all backgrounds  on short and long-term contracts.

I work using an integrative approach combining the core therapies of person-centred, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) tailored to individual needs.

I provide a safe, empathic and non-judgemental space for you to explore your difficulties. I will not tell you what to do but will guide you to help you make the right choices in your life and to gain greater self-awareness.

I pride myself on my down-to-earth, honest and open approach.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a CPCAB level 4 diploma in therapeutic counselling awarded by Lambeth College, London and the BACP certificate of proficiency.

CBT For therapists and Coaches

I also hold CPCAB Level 1 Counselling skills, CPACB Level 2 Counselling skills and CPCAB Level 3 Counselling studies, awarded by Southwark College, London.

Within the NHS at Melbourne Grove Medical centre, I worked with many clients who presented a wide range of issues, some more complex than others.

At Turning Point, I worked with men and women of different ages with drug and alcohol addiction and the very complex and traumatic issues surrounding those addictions.

Currently, I’m a caseworker with SSAFA (the Armed Forces charity) providing support and advice to eligible individuals who are recognised as vulnerable adults requiring wellbeing and emotional support within the definitions of the Care Act 2014.

During the current Pandemic I am a NHS volunteer responder, providing assistance to the most vulnerable as and when required.

I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) (051305).

The BACP is the UK’s largest professional body for the counselling professions and I work within their code of ethics and guidelines.

Integrity and commitment to duty of care are paramount in my professional values.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

The name NuVista (new view) for my Counselling business was so given because it was born from my vision that counselling or talking therapy can give people a new view of life once they have untangled the issues that make them anxious, stressed, depressed, bereaved, feeling suicidal or simply struggling with day-to-day life, their jobs.

I firmly believe that talking therapy can get to the heart of the problem from my own personal and professional journey.

I get so much reward from helping someone to turn their life around. From the first session where shoulders are low, mood and body language showing a person in trauma then seeing them change week by week, confidence growing, a great therapist/client relationship developing based on trust, empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence.

It is a wonderful reward, (I call it a gift) I feel privileged that they have shared their innermost thoughts, feelings and emotions with me.

Of course, it doesn’t always end this way and people have to be prepared for that, it may take several tries at therapy, or indeed it may not give them the result that they yearn for. I’m happy to say that thus far my clients have always had positive endings in their therapy journey.

NuVista was born not only from an outlook but from a new view of life, the acceptance and understanding of past events and realisation and actualisation of my place within that life and its future...
