About me

My name is Donna, welcome to Poppy Counselling Services.

I offer a space where you can talk openly and you are respected. I provide a non-judgemental & empathic listening ear. I can help you explore your feelings freely & openly to find your own way forward. I will walk along side you as you work through your worries. I will support, encourage & guide you to find a better, more happy person.

If you are struggling with anxiety, low self esteem or depression talking to a therapist can help. There are times in our lives where we have suffered a bereavement. Relationships can be difficult and maybe you have worries with family or a partner?

I have a specific interest helping with anxiety, depression and bereavement. I can help with many other mental health problems.

My experience has been with many mental health problems. I am very  experienced in working with adolescent's & adults alike, many of whom are neurodiverse.

I am experienced with helping those suffering with life limiting illnesses & their families. This includes bereavement & loss as I have worked with a local Kent Hospice.

I also work with young people within a pupil referral unit, this has allowed me to develop skills to help them to understand themselves & the world around them.

I also work with couples enabling them to communicate better with one another during difficult times.

I am a qualified, experienced counsellor & nurse which means I understand the challenges that working in the healthcare sector has been, especially over the pandemic.

I am registered with the BACP which means I work ethically & safely for both you & myself.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
