About me

Hi there and welcome. I am a fully qualified counsellor with experience in a wide range of therapeutic settings. I offer short term counselling and longer open- ended counselling, depending on your specific needs and wishes.

I know that seeking counselling for the first time can seem extremely daunting and so I aim to offer a relaxed and compassionate relationship where you can simply be yourself. I try to make the process as straightforward and simple as possible. Call me or email me and we can have an informal chat, where I can answer any questions you may have. From here, if you wish to work with me, we can book you in for your first counselling session. After this our sessions will be weekly together.

At certain times in life we can all feel overwhelmed, unhappy, anxious, depressed, or simply we may feel ‘stuck’ and unable to see a way forward.

Counselling can provide you with a safe, non- judgmental and confidential space in which you can speak freely, be heard and supported to make positive changes within your life, your relationships and yourself. The counselling process can support you to develop self- awareness, increase self- esteem and to look at whatever issues are causing you difficulty from a new perspective and a deeper or clearer understanding.

I use an Integrative Counselling approach. This means that I may draw on several different counselling theories and techniques, depending on what suits you as an individual. Models I may use in our work together include; Person-centred Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Counselling, Creative therapy and Mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques.

I offer both face to face counselling sessions, online sessions and telephone counselling. I am a down to earth, friendly counsellor and my aim will be to put you at ease. Please feel free to get in touch.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
