About me

Making the decision to seek counselling is one thing but finding the right counsellor for you, is quite another. How can you be sure that you will feel comfortable around me, let alone open up about your deepest pain, challenges and relationships. All you have to go on is the information you are reading now and a few photographs. Perhaps a previous experience of counselling wasn’t positive and you are feeling hesitant about starting with someone new. This is why, it is important that you feel comfortable with the therapist you choose but it may take a little time to figure that out and that’s ok.

I offer long term and short term in person sessions in North Watford. I can also offer Zoom sessions.  To start with, an initial appointment of 90 minutes takes place whereby we decide mutually if we could work together.  All sessions thereafter are 50 minutes and at the same time weekly.

My aim as a therapist is to provide you with a non-judgemental, unconditional space whereby you can bring your whole self.  Therapy can be a challenging undertaking at times but one that will enable you to understand yourself in a way that will help you to make sense of the issues that are holding you back. Asking for help in times of adversity is a sign of strength, courage and commitment to your self-worth. If it sounds like we could work together, please get in touch so that we can arrange an initial conversation.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked in Health & Fitness Education for 16 years and feel passionately about the link between mental and physical well-being. I am a registered member of the BACP and I trained with The Counselling Foundation in St. Albans. I am committed to continuous professional development and believe that we never stop learning.  I have had many years of personal therapy and can speak from experience about the life changing benefits that have been brought about. As well as working in health and fitness, I have experience in supporting patients and their families at end of life and currently work part-time in the NHS.  I have a private therapy practise, working with clients who experience a number of issues such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, OCD, phobias, bereavement and relationship issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
