About me

Psychotherapy and Counselling in Soho.

Though primarily trained within the Jungian tradition I also was influenced by the work of Freud, Winnicott and Klein.

I worked for many years in the Mental Health system assisting people who were detained under the Mental Health Act. The range of clients varied widely - from those detained for short periods to those detained for years in high security hospitals.

I consider that we live in an inauthentic society dominated by political correctness which is in many cases inimical to mental health.

One of Jung's most important concepts was that of "The Shadow" - that part of the personality which is mostly unconscious and contains many feelings and thoughts not tolerated by conventional society.

Jung saw the integration of such thoughts and feelings as important in the development of the personality and thus in opposition to political correctness which attempts to stifle such awareness.

It is therefore part of a genuine counter-culture movement.

I would also describe my work as a crossover between Jungian and existential concepts in which the self actualises itself in action and language in the world.

However I do not subscribe to the relativism of postmodern thought which says that there is no truth. To say that there is no truth is in itself a truth - it is literally non-sense.

I am dedicated to find the truth for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

M.A Psychotherapy and Healing Practice - Middlesex University.

I worked privately dealing with people subject to the provisions of the Mental Health Act for almost 20 years

These included a wide range of clients with varying degrees of disturbance ranging from anxiety and obsessional disorders to those who had serious and enduring psychotic illness.

Their issues almost always involved the appropriate use of medication and housing and support provision within the community.

The age range of clients ran from 12 to 80 and from all ethnic and religious backgrounds.
