About me

About Me

My Name is Colette Machard.  I am passionate about health and wellbeing.  For most of my life I have had health issue and I have been on a journey of discovery to find out how I could manage my health and pain more effectively.  This journey lead me to the therapies I use today.  I never ask a client to use a therapy or technique that I haven't experienced myself.

Therapies

  • Integrative Counsellor
  • Individuals and Couples.
  • Creative Hypnotherapist
  • NLP Master Practitioner
  • Old Pain 2 go Practitioner
  • Clinical Supervisor
  • Mindfulness MBCT

What is therapy like

People are often hesitant about going to therapy, I know I was the first time.  The way I describe therapy is like a pressure cooker.  People let things build up and up and eventually they can't cope any more.  They either blow or become ill.  Therapy gently lets the pressure off until the person can lift the lid themselves.

In the first session I will fully explain how the whole process works.

We work at your speed, dealing with your issues.

I work form a Humanistic Perspective meaning the whole body. I believe that we all have the answers inside ourselves and we all have the potential to grow and change.

Many of the people I have worked with say they are not sure about if Counselling is for them.  After a few session most of them say that they wish they had come sooner.

Where will therapy take place

I practice from my office in Whalley which is near the railway station.

My office is wheel chair accessible, I have a video doorbell that comes through to my phone so I can communicate with either hearing or deaf people. If you have a disability and would like to know if my office is suitable for your needs, please give me a call.

I offer

  • Face to face sessions.
  • Telephone sessions.
  • Skype sessions.
  • Whats App sessions, Voice or Video

How do I book in?

The best way to contact me is on my mobile.  If it is engaged that means that I am working with someone.  Please leave your name and number and I will call you back.

I can also be contacted by text, email colettecounselling@gmail.com or you can message me from my website colettecounselling.co.uk or  messenger colettecounselling.

What happens on a first session?

On a first session and assessment it is about us meeting and seeing if you feel comfortable and would like to work with me. We talk about your issues and how they are affecting you.

When working together

I provide a safe, supportive, non-judgemental space for you to work through your issues, working at your pace, gaining new perspectives and growing in confidence and improved self esteem.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

In additon to counselling I also provide a Creative Hypnotherapy service. Creative Hypnotherapy works in a Person Centred way, so the therapy is specific to you. Hypnotherapy is a safe way to deal with many issues such as

Quitting smoking
Berevament
Phobias
Health
Insomnia
Stress and Anxiety
And much more.

I am also an NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) Master Practitioner.  NLP can also work on a number of issues both therapeutically and coaching.  It focuses on, getting the person to be the best that they can and giving them some skills to do this.

Old Pain 2 Go is a new therapy that has been developed by Steven Blake.  This therapy helps the client distinguish between old pain and new pain.  Old pain is pain that lasts longer than two weeks and turns in to chronic pain. New pain tells us something is wrong and we need to deal with it.  By using Steven's technique it is possible to let go of the old pain.
