About me

Hello, my name is Christopher Jones.

As an integrative counsellor, I believe that there is not one size that fits all, so I unify a broad number of approaches and tailor my practice to the client’s specific needs.

As a registered member of the BACP, I work within its ethical framework to ensure that I maintain safe and professional standards.

I have over 10 years of experience working in the helping sector and have provided support to clients from various backgrounds, over the age of 18, with a range of psychological problems. I currently provide counselling services at Islington MIND as well as seeing clients in my private practice in East London.

I provide a safe, supportive, non-judgmental, and confidential environment where clients can comfortably express and explore their concerns, gain insights into their experiences, adjust old patterns, and discover new opportunities.

HOW I WORK

Integration

My approach is tailored to each individual's unique needs, drawing from an integrative philosophy that combines Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Humanistic theories.

I prioritise holistic well-being, considering the whole of the client, both mind and body.

I recognise that our mental health does not exist within a vacuum but is impacted by a variety of external forces, such as socioeconomic/cultural factors that may contribute to a client’s struggles.

A major part of this process of integration can be pinned to relationships.

Relationships

The common thread in my work is the significance of relationships, and I approach my work with an interpersonal and intrapersonal focus.  This means that I see our very existence as shaped by the connections we have with ourselves, the people, and the objects around us, past and present.

I firmly believe in the healing power of relationships and see many problems as relational in nature. Through the therapeutic relationship, I help clients facilitate change and awareness concerning these issues.

Emphasising the importance of the therapeutic relationship, I offer a complimentary second assessment if necessary, recognising the importance of finding the right counsellor, a process that I understand can be costly for clients.

Psychological problems

Psychological challenges are prevalent and can impact anyone at various stages of life. While some issues are transient and can be effectively addressed through focused and short-term counselling, others may be chronic, necessitating diverse interventions and longer-term efforts.

I am equipped to work with a range of psychological problems. Some of the psychological problems I have experience working with are listed in the 'Areas of Counselling I deal with' section that can be found below.

I am committed to progressive and up-to-date counselling practices, recognising the importance of staying informed about research developments.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling: Integrative Pathway, Citylit.
  • Level 3 Certificate in Counselling, Citylit.
  • First Class BA(Hons) History, University West of England.
  • I have worked as a counsellor for a variety of organisations and charities, including Silverset Counselling, EASE Wellbeing, and Islington MIND.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
