About me
I'm Chris, and I work with Adults on a one-to-one basis. I work with a number of issues including anxiety, depression, difficulties in childhood, trauma, self-esteem, finding a sense of meaning or purpose, among many other difficulties.
As an integrative practitioner I'll draw from a wide base of theories and techniques to suit each individual. Similarly, as a registered art therapist and as an arts based practitioner I'll often suggest using creative techniques and methods in order to connect with feelings and emotions that may not be available to us otherwise, and to help facilitate the expression of each individual's unique voice and experience. No familiarity with the arts is necessary.
Finding the right therapist for you is a significant factor in deciding how effective therapy can be. As such I offer a free initial consultation, either via the phone or zoom, to answer any questions or concerns and help decide if I would be the right fit for you. If you then wish to continue, the first session will be an assessment, during which I can get to know more about your situation and needs, understand your goals and the direction you wish your therapy to go in, and you can get more of a sense for me as a practitioner and as a person, and decide whether I would someone you would be comfortable working with.
I'm currently working out of Tufnell Park in North London, very close to Tufnell Park tube station on the northern line.
Training, qualifications & experience
I'm a registered member of the Heath and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
I graduated from the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education with an MA in integrative arts based psychotherapy. My prior experience includes working to support mental health and wellbeing with NHS staff and students during the Covid-19 Pandemic, working as part of the NHS's early intervention in psychosis services, and as part of a London based low-cost therapy service.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
