About me

I offer a talking therapy in a confidential, trusting but welcoming environment in which you have a safe space to explore your issues, with no judgment, in order to aid your personal growth and bring about change.

I am an integrative therapist (counselling and psychotherapy) which means I am able to approach each client with different tools and with what might be useful to you, your individual situation and your personality. Hopefully, I can help you understand feelings, patterns of behavior and problems in the present that might come from the past, and help empower you to heal, find peace and find your authentic self.

How therapy with me works

I work with individuals only and offer weekly (or fortnightly) 50 minute talking therapy sessions, either in person at Feel Good Balham, online on Google Meet or on the phone.

I also offer Outdoor/Walk and Talk Therapy (weather permitting).

I also offer Single Session Therapy (90 mins), which involves some work from you beforehand, and I can offer follow up sessions (these can be shorter) if need be afterwards.  Single Session Therapy works very well with Careers Counselling or Menopause Mentoring (please see below).

With EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) I can offer 30 minutes after the initial 50 minute consultation.

Areas I work with

I have experience of working with a broad range of issues including depression, anxiety, stress, feeling sad, loss of direction, relationships, low self-esteem, the inner critic and self-confidence. I have worked with clients aged 18 upwards.

Some of the areas I specialise in are (but not limited to) the following:

The road to motherhood is not an easy journey for everyone, and I’m here to offer support to those struggling from infertility or secondary infertility. Trying for a baby can be an incredibly lonely, upsetting, confusing and frustrating time, so having a safe space to talk through what is going on, and can be incredibly cathartic and helpful.

I also am passionate about helping women as they navigate Motherhood; from early pregnancy to starting maternity leave, through the return to work - or not - up through the school years and beyond. There are so many anxieties to face once you get that positive result and seeing someone to talk them through can help you feel mentally robust to deal with the many challenges of pregnancy, birth and motherhood and the change in identity that comes with them.

I also work with women who are going through peri/menopause. This huge change in life can result in a loss of confidence, overwhelm, anxiety and depression and with symptoms that can sometimes be debilitating, it can harm your sense of self and worth and affect your home life, relationships or career.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and adhere to their ethical framework for good practice. I am fully insured and my work is regularly supervised.

I have a CPCAB diploma from Southbank University in Integrative Therapy (Counselling and psychotherapy). I also have a certificate in online and telephone Counselling from the Open University. I worked with people from age 18 upwards and from all walks of life during my training placement at The Awareness Centre in Tooting.

I trained in EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) with Karl Dawson in 2023 and found this to be a very useful tool to bring into my therapy work (if desired).

I have worked in the Media Industry, mainly in Television Production, since the late 90s, which could be useful for anyone from the creative industries that wants a counsellor who understands the pressures of working in film, tv, music and theatre.

I also have experience of working in television recruitment and hold a diploma in career coaching from CIPD, should you have any career issues or troubles. Career counselling can be incredibly useful; to look at your work relationships and how elements from your past can inform your current feelings and emotions in the workplace.

I also run an online Network of over 2200 Mums and have experience in the corporate world coaching women going on and coming back off maternity leave. I run a Menopause Peer Support Group in the corporate world and am training to be a Menopause Mentor with Over the Bloody Moon. I also run a Careers Hub for TV Freelancers.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
