Catherine Russell - Dip.Couns. MBACP
About me
During this time of uncertainty and worry amid the Covid-19 pandemic, I am continuing provide a professional, supportive and confidential service via online platforms and telephone sessions as well as providing face to face sessions.
I am a qualified and experienced counsellor, registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psyhchotherapy. With a busy practice in Milton Keynes, my work is fully supervised according to the guidelines of the BACP and I hold appropriate professional indemnity insurance.
Whether you have been to therapy before or this is the first time you are considering taking this step, it can feel daunting to understand what might be right for you. I hope you find all the information you need here, but please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions you would like to ask about what I can offer you.
I believe everyone should have access to high quality counselling at exactly the time they need it, without having to wait. I have experience working with a wide range of issues and with people who come from a variety of backgrounds. This experience includes bereavement, domestic violence, low self-esteem, substance misuse, relationship difficulties, addictions, self-harm, trauma, abuse, social and family interactions, carer support, misophonia, divorce and separation, anxiety, panic attacks and depression.
I am passionate about the work I do, and the possibility each and every one of us has to change: to choose a life more fulfilling and become who we truly are.
We all experience difficulties in our lives from time to time, but sometimes these problems can feel overwhelming and as if you have nowhere to turn. I am able to offer support during challenging and distressing times in a calm, confidential and supportive environment where you will feel heard and understood. Together we can work towards identifying and making sense of your difficulties and look at positive changes you may want to make in order to reach your potential and be the person you want to be.
IS COUNSELLING RIGHT FOR ME?
Counselling provides a confidential, safe and supportive environment where you can talk through any issues causing difficulties or concern. It is time set aside each week to talk about what you are experiencing and might include exploring life events (past and present), feelings, emotions, relationships, ways of thinking and patterns of behaviour. It can help you to understand aspects of your life which have been causing you problems. The understanding that you gain may lead to a decision to make some changes in your life. These changes may only be small but could have a significant impact on your happiness and well being.
Please telephone, email or message me if you have any further questions or to make an appointment. I will usually respond within 24 hours.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
