About me

My name is Caroline and I am a fully qualified counsellor currently working remotely and I am committed to providing counselling and therapy in a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental environment. Counselling can take place at your convenience over any remote platform providing you have a safe, confidential, quiet space to work from.

Personal Approach

I am an integrative counsellor, which means that I have been trained in different modalities. This allows me to draw on different theories when I work with clients, as no two people are the same. The main theories I work with are Person-Centred or 'humanistic' approach which allows me to look holistically at any problems that you may be facing in the here and now. I also use the Psychodynamic approach which looks at issues from your past that may be having a significant impact on how you are living your life today. I may also use other approaches like Cognitive Behaviour Therapy or 'CBT’ if I think it could help be beneficial. Using different counselling theories allows me to tailor my counselling to suit the individual needs of each client. Working integratively allows me to help clients have a better understanding of themselves and their behaviour and a newfound self-awareness. This in turn enables the clients to make any changes they feel are necessary when they are ready.

Training, qualifications & experience

As a counsellor, I have a lot of experience both personally and professionally dealing with Autism, ADHD, Tourettes, and other disabilities. I have worked for many years with students on the Autistic Spectrum and am fully aware of the challenges and difficulties that these special young people can face. I also have experience of dealing with members of the LGBTQ+ community and am very aware of the struggles and dilemmas that they may be experiencing, as I have volunteered for an LGBTQ+ charity as part of my training. I offer a free 30 minute trial session to new clients and also offer a discounted rate to anyone with a disability and close family members, staff working for the NHS, keyworkers and members of the teaching profession. (Please contact me for further details).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
