About me

I am Bernadette, a dedicated and passionate psychotherapist with a deep commitment to fostering emotional well-being in children, adolescents, and families. My journey in this field has been guided by years of experience working with children, specialist training and a heartfelt desire to make a positive impact.

Children often find it challenging to express their emotions and navigate the complexities of their inner worlds. My specialised training enables me to create a safe and nurturing space where children can explore their feelings and experiences using various therapeutic techniques, including play therapy and art therapy. I'm dedicated to helping them build resilience and develop essential emotional skills that will serve them well in the future.

Adolescence is a period of profound change and self-discovery. With my training in integrative psychotherapy, I am well-prepared to assist adolescents in their journey. I provide a secure and non-judgmental environment where they can explore their evolving identities, manage stress, and develop healthy coping strategies.

Family dynamics play a crucial role in a child's emotional well-being. In some cases, where appropriate, I work supportively with families to address communication challenges, improve relationships, and build a positive environment that nurtures each family member's growth.

My integrative training allows me to draw from various therapeutic approaches, tailoring each session to the unique needs of my clients. Whether we're working through behavioural concerns, emotional issues, or life transitions, I have the tools and knowledge to guide children, adolescents, and families towards positive change.

Beyond my training, I am deeply committed to forming authentic connections with my clients. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of effective therapy. I provide empathy, understanding, and a non-judgmental presence, ensuring that every client feels heard, valued, and supported.

If you're seeking support for your child, adolescent, or family, I'm here to walk this journey with you. I have the expertise to guide you towards healing, growth, and positive change. Together, we can create a nurturing space where your child or family can flourish emotionally and develop the skills to thrive in all aspects of life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
